Dual-zone wine cabinets: two temperatures in one cabinet
A dual-zone wine cabinet has two compartments that you set to two different temperatures. You can keep whites and Champagne cool in one zone and reds a few degrees warmer in the other, or combine a long-term ageing zone with a zone for bottles you are about to serve.
Our range covers compact under-counter models, fully integrated built-in cabinets and large freestanding cabinets from La Sommelière and Temptech, delivered anywhere in Switzerland.
How to choose a dual-zone wine cabinet
Capacity of each zone
The two zones are rarely the same size. Check how many bottles each compartment holds and size the larger one for the wines you drink most. Plan 20 to 30 % more space than your current collection.
Temperature range
Most dual-zone cabinets cover roughly 5 to 20 °C. For serving, whites and sparkling wines are usually poured at 6 to 12 °C and reds at 14 to 18 °C; for ageing, both zones can be set around 12 °C.
Built-in or freestanding
A built-in model needs a niche of the right size and front ventilation. A freestanding model is easier to place but needs space around it for air. Check the installation type before comparing prices.
Noise and vibration
In a kitchen or living room, choose a quiet, low-vibration model. The noise level in dB is given in the technical specifications; a lower figure means a quieter cabinet.
Shelves and bottle formats
Wooden sliding shelves make access easier; fixed shelves store more bottles. If you keep Champagne, magnums or Burgundy bottles, check the shelf spacing.
Single-zone, dual-zone or multi-zone?
| Type | Temperatures | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Single-zone | One temperature for the whole cabinet | Ageing a collection at about 12 °C, or storing one type of wine |
| Dual-zone | Two independent temperatures | Keeping whites and reds at serving temperature, or ageing plus service |
| Multi-zone | Three zones or a temperature gradient | Serving several types of wine at their ideal temperature |
Dual-zone wine cabinet FAQ
What is a dual-zone wine cabinet?
It is a wine cabinet with two compartments, each with its own temperature setting, so you can store two types of wine at two different temperatures.
Can I age wine in a dual-zone cabinet?
Yes. Set one or both zones to about 12 °C for long-term storage. Many collectors use one zone for ageing and the other for bottles ready to drink.
Which temperature for each zone?
A common setting is 8 to 10 °C for whites and sparkling wines and 15 to 17 °C for reds. Adjust to your taste and the wines you drink most.
Is a dual-zone cabinet more expensive to run?
Energy use depends mainly on the cabinet size, its energy class and the room temperature. The energy class and annual consumption are given in the technical specifications of each model.
Can a dual-zone cabinet be built in?
Yes. Several models are designed for under-counter or fully integrated installation in kitchen units. Check the niche dimensions and ventilation requirements of the model.
How many bottles should I plan for?
Count your current bottles and add 20 to 30 %. Capacities are given for standard 75 cl Bordeaux bottles; larger bottles reduce the real capacity.
Do you deliver anywhere in Switzerland?
Yes. Wine cabinets are delivered to your doorstep anywhere in Switzerland, or delivered and installed by two people. You can also collect your order in Payerne.
Which brands do you offer?
Our dual-zone wine cabinets come mainly from La Sommelière and Temptech, two specialists in wine storage.
